Emma Morley was ruled by ego and super-ego throughout most parts of the novel.

She wanted to bring the world a better future and to be a writer.

After graduated from university,Emma didn't follow the path of her dream but she went to get a job at a run down restaurant.She knew that she had to work on to earn money for life even though she hated the restaurant so much.Instead of finding another job,she advanced to a managing position at the restaurant she was trying to escape.Emma had enough dignity to know when enough is enough.It may taken her a few years but she eventually figures out what she wants in life.
